Originally by: BeauChaotica I've been playing this game since 2005, and I never had cause to even log into the forums until now.
I have never seen such atrocious handling of a public relations issue as this one right here.
CCP are keeping quiet, and backtracking with every single word they say. I've never seen them stumble and make fools of themselves like this in all the time I've been around. It's painful to watch; this is all if we ignore the fact that what they're planning to implement is potentially game-breaking. I can't fathom why they don't just stop mucking around and tell the community:
- What the original plan was,
- That they made a terrible mistake, as appropriate and apologise,
- What they're going to do to make it right and make a pledge so that this never happens again.
To add insult to injury, Zulu's blog was nothing short of patronising and irrelevant, and belies genuine incompetence and an inkling of disdain when it comes to dealing with mass inquiries by the playerbase. I'm not unsubscribing now, because I've come back from a hiatus for this expansion but if the new arbitrary currency CCP have decided to make up (a bogus move in any world economy) starts to go south, then I will too.
I also used to be a big TF2 player, but I've gradually watched that game crash and burn as valve have done exactly as CCP are doing to EVE now, by adding microtransactions and needless features conjured out of thin air for nothing more than a quick buck and a slice off the top. Being able to do anything is what this game has going for it; don't make an elitist caste out of us. It's not fair. I dread the day when we all start to get hats...that was when I left TF2, and I'm nearly at that line with EVE as are thousands of other players with pointers hovering over the 'unsub' button.
Be straight with us and we can sort this whole mess out. Tell us what you are going to do even if you're going to ignore what it is we actually want. Every single one of us is a paying customer. We make your game, and we at least deserve your honesty.
Thanks for reading, Beau
